POBC is a leading name in the wholesale courier business having over 200
branches in India. Current Operations software maintains database at every
operational branch. The synchronization of these databases takes place via FTP.
In some cases data does not get synchronized thereby giving less control on trackin
a paraticular consignment through the software; forcing a manual intervention.

has been developed on a rule based software called Selling Point. The
enhancement of POST was required to offer customizable Estimate Analysis (EA)
Sheet, Options & Breakout features to offer more flexibility to Sales

Application features are
- EA Sheet:
Often costing changes in the manufacturing industry due to raw material cost,
changes in cost structure or external factors such as taxes/duties. Due to
these constraints it is not feasible to build costing calculations in
program/database. Projectel offered a solution in which the costing structure
and calculations are maintained in Excel Workbook along with the resultant EA
Sheet.
- Options and Breakouts:
Sales Engineer has to work out solutions of type “What if” to present
different configurations of the product; Options. Breakout procedure allows the
Customer to check the procurement of any material is possible through a local
vendor. The rules of the configured product are maintained by the Selling Point
Engine in a text-formatted file. Selling Point being a black box with no
technical support it was not possible to alter the structure of this rule based
file. Projectel offered a solution which interrupts the loading and saving
procedure of the configured product of POST to load/save any Options &
Breakouts. A parallel rule based file is maintained to store the Options and
Breakouts.
